Juniperus is a large genus of coniferous shrubs and trees in the family Cupressaceae. There are about 70 species of juniper, most of which are native to the Northern Hemisphere. Junipers vary in size and shape, from tall trees, 20–40 m (70–130 ft) tall, to columnar or low-growing shrubs with long trailing branches. They are evergreen with needle-like and/or scale-like leaves.

The Monkey Puzzle Tree (Araucaria araucana) is an evergreen tree native to central and southern Chile and Argentina. It is an iconic symbol of both countries and is the national tree of Chile. The Monkey Puzzle Tree gets its name from its unique, spiky leaves which are said to resemble the puzzle-like hair of a monkey.
