A hardy, evergreen climber, it is widely cultivated as a houseplant in temperate regions. It can reach a length of 20 m (66 ft) given suitable support, with heart-shaped leaves 6–22 cm (2.4–8.7 in) across. The flowers are small and borne in clusters.
