Rudbeckia hirta is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, native to central and eastern North America. It has been introduced to Europe as an ornamental plant. Rudbeckia hirta, commonly called black-eyed Susan, is a quick-blooming annual that is native to North America.
It typically grows to 1.5-2.5’ tall and features daisy-like, yellow flowers (to 3” diameter) with chocolate-brown disks. Blooms appear in summer and continue until frost. Each flower head consists of 10-20 ray florets surrounding a prominent, chocolate-brown central disk. It is an annual or biennial plant growing to 1.2–2.5 m tall, with yellow flowers with a prominent central cone of black seeds.
